A few nights ago I posted the first Saw-whet image I'd taken on Sunday with a lot of oof foreground. As I've looked through my files I've come across a few shots with less obtrusive, though still unfortunate, foreground elements. I found the touch of blood on the breast interesting here. As always all comments are welcome. Thanks for looking :)

Laura, the look on his/her face gives the impression he/she isn't happy with you taking his/her picture. :D

Your DOF is pretty narrow, but it looks like you nailed the eyes.

Laura, this is better, just a little big in the frame.

I don't mind the foreground -- the expression makes the shot.

Cool bird and shot - I'd love to get a shot at one of these.

Great looking bird. I agree, it's a bit tight. Is this how you took it or is it cropped? Still, very nice work. Love the eyes.

That's how I took it. I couldn't get much further back without climbing into the neighboring Spruce!

Cute little owl. I've never seen one in the wild. The OOF FG tends to force the eye to the top portion of the frame. (as if the owl's eyes don't already do that!) Cool shot.

:) :) Laura, though both images are very nice and I would love to be the owner. This one is definately better balanced, not only in the disturbing FG but also in the head turn, the eyes are now of equal size.

What a little beauty Laura! ( I say little because I am presuming he is not a large Owl?).

Sweet shot. 8)

Laura, I agree with others that this image is much better. Could the lower left BG be lightened perhaps to match the BG above the limb? Such a gorgeous 8" owl indeed!!! :D :D

I like this one better too. If it wasn't for the tailfeathers being visible and recognizable (which I think balances the image), I would crop away the bottom up to the middle of the branch.
