Wonderful capture and expertly done!!!
For one that loves this kind of shots, I can tell you the view finder is utterly useless in this situation , nothing like a cable release for proper timing, the owl and exposure could not be better and so is the detail!!
Would recommend dark brown or black mice for the next event!!
Congrats!!! 8) 8) 8)

OK I ditto on the WOW talk -- this is terrific. I can't help but feel bad for the mouse just a little bit.

Magnificent! The black background and spread wings are very dramatic. I love this image. That mouse looks more like someone's pet than food though. ;)

Actually, that's a wild white-footed mouse that I caught in a snap trap in my workshop. They are a vector for Lyme disease, and show up in my house every year in late fall. Here's a quote from the Wellesley College website:

"White-footed mice usually only invade human homes in the fall, when looking for warm winter quarters. They provide major prey for owls, especially screech owls and barred owls."

Your mice are much cuter than ours. :) I still can't imagine how great it must be to have this as a yard bird.
