This is a Bubulcus ibis in Southern Portugal. Shot from my car window
Many farmers consider this species responsible for transmitting diseases among cattle, specially because they peck the wounds after removing ticks, but I believe this was never proved.

Alexandre, Love the breeding plumage of this Egret. This photo sums up what this species is all about. As the cattle disturb the bugs, the egrets wait for dinner.

Amazing bird, interestingly enough I just learned Cattle Egrets hopped a ship to the new world only in recent history, was anyone else aware? It has a occured to me that all there close relatives are old world and they seem like the odd egret in North America.

I love this shot, subjects side by side produces good scale -- the information about the egret is very interesting.

How perfect! I especially like the sense of scale here.
