Very successful shot. Shooting handheld and into the light; good exposure. Feather detail is very good and face quite visible. Great Capture!

Hey Jim:

I was expecting a WAK shot! Great detail and exposure. I was hoping to see this species and am glad you've posted a great example!

Jeff,

It was great meeting you this wknd at WAK. Too bad the weather didn't co-operate. I haven't had time to process the images from WAK yet, so I thought I would post one that fit the motif. I hope you got the images you wanted while you were there.

I sure hope you don't mind but this appeared to have a lot more potential. This repost is with a little levels adjustment to add more life to the image. It has been deleted from my HD.

Excellent. I love high key images.
Did you use the Shadow/Highlight Tool when you processed this?

Richard,

I still use PS Elements. I don't think it has a shadow highlights tool. If it does I haven't found it. It has a dodge tool. Is that the same thing or am I missing out on something really good? My processing for this image consisted of crop, levels adj., resize, and sharpen.

Thanks Alan. I don't mind the repost at all. Your version definetly looks better. I played around and was able to come up with similar results. I just didn't do a very good job in levels the first time around.

Just wondering. The new PS CS has a Shadow/Highlight tool which brings out a tremendous amount of detail in shadows such as backlit or underexposed subjects.

Jim, I'm glad Alan did the repost as it was a little flat as presented. All that aside, This is an incredible image showing fantastic detail.

Jim,

Beautiful wing spread. The repost really helps bring out the detail.

I wish you had blue skies.

The wing positions really make this for me. The repost pops right off the screen. Thanks for contributing to the Motif. :D

Jim,

Seems like I never get blue skies when I need them. You may not remember, but you were standing next to me when I took this shot. I didn't realize I got a decent shot until a few days later when I processed it at home.

The second post really brings the potential of the image to the top. A very nice Snail Kite in flight.
