E.J. led us into so many great photo shots it becomes difficult to select which one to post. But I didn't think I would go wrong with this one as it was a duck I had been thinking about long before I returned to Arizona.
Canon Eos 10D, Canon 400/2.8 + 1.4 TC; Gitzo tripod, Wimberly head. ISO at 400; 1/500 @ f 8; flash off. Cropped slightly on both sides.
As always comments and reposts for improvement welcome. Thanks for viewing.

I like the perspective. That eye really pops out at you.

This is one gorgeous pochard and a really fine image.

I'd like to have one anywhere near this nice.

Excellent! Really like the expression and the head slightly turned and bill down. Not a common pose for a duck in my experience.

I love the colors, a tiny overexposed in my monitor, Perhaps -1/3.

I love the tipped head on this one and the DOF is very good for a head on shot.

You really captured the softness of the feathers. The eye is beautiful!

Very nice! Looks almost muted. A boost in saturation would make it look more like I remember them. Great looking ducks!

Joe,

Of all the ducks we photographed I think the Pochard showed the most "attitude" and you've captured that very well here in this image.
