I Have Had Several People Ask, Comment On My Favorite Lens.
The 200mm f1.8 Is/Was The Sharpest Lens In Canon's Line-Up (IMHO)....
Still Available In Japan, But Not Here....
Also For Me, There Is No Better Low Light Telephoto

This Guy Was Making His Rounds Up And Down The Sendero, Just Before Day-Break... The Sun Had Not Broken The Horizion, And False Dawn Was Just Starting. I Was In A Ground Blind, And He Was Looking For A Meal. They Are Nest Robbers, So Everytime He Heard My Focus Chirps, He Moved Closer... Almost Climbed In To The Blind With Me... Got Right On The Frame, Between The Camera Lens And Wire Mesh, Before He Decided I Was Not What He Wanted...

It Is A Little Grainy In The BG, But I Like The Effect And Detail..
Cropped Only From The Sides For Composition..
Full Frame Top To Bottom..

Very inquisitive bird, I've never seen one. You grabbed a great shot anyway :)

John, Wonderful shot with a nice BG. I wonder why you went with 1/1600 shutter speed and gave up DOF or a lower ISO?

I love the bird. But I agree with Alan that if possible perhaps you should have opted for more DOF.

Must have been a cool experience to get that close. Nice perspective and image given the conditions.

The Shutter Speed Was Set By the Camera As He Moved Closer And Into More Light... He Started In The Shadows And Moved So Faster Toward Me, I Did Not Have The Chance To Up The Aperture For More DOF... 6 Shots As Fast As I Could Click The Shutter... Then In The Window & Gone... It Was Really Early, As I Said, And I Had Been Trying To Catch A Whitetail Buck Moving In The Brush Across The Way.... Switched Subjects So Fast I Kept the Settings...

Really, He Surprised Me, He Had Already Gone Past Earlier (Before Focus Was Possible), And Normally They Do Not Return For Sometime... May Have Been The Chirps....

I Agree More DOF With The Faster Shutter Would Have Been Possible, And Better, But I Am Getting Slow In My Old Age..!!

I Will Post The Deer Picture In The "Wildlife" Forum Tonight. It's Setting Will Tell You Why the High Shutter...

Excellent image. What is in focus is very sharp. I just would like to see more DOF.
