Let's see if this post works! I found this slide in a box I hadn't scrutinized much. I cropped it to make a square image.

EOS-3, 400 w/2x TC, Wimberley head on a G1410. Provia 100.

Hi, Peter!

I like your thinking in the square format. Personally I have a hard time breaking away from the 35mm format and wish I had more creative vision.

The open wings are really nice, I have sought such a picture but many frames later still don't have one. The raised foot is a bonus, too!

There is a slight blue cast (easily corrected) that I suspect originates from the scanning of Provia. I get the same thing when scanning my slides.

Heather, the blue cast is intentional. I added quite a bit of blue; I thought I'd try the effect of extra blue light being splashed around from the reflection. But if it's that obvious, perhaps I should back it off a bit!

Larsen,

This has great action, typical of this species. It appears a bit soft to me but still a killer photo.

Larsen, a fine image. The crop looks good to me, but I'd like a drop more room at the bottom for the reflection. The wingspread and action are excellent. Whites are hot in a few areas. To my soft eyes, the image does look a bit soft.

Welcome aboard Peter! Great action in this one. A little more USM and it would be all the better. It might be a little blue for my taste, but I admire your risk taking. Glad to have you here and hope to see many more!

Hi Peter---the action makes this image and if you like the blue effect, then I can appreciate that and only would suggest USM and a slight contrast adjustment. Welcome to NSN!

I like the action in this one. Could use a bit more USM though.
