Northern Pintail Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge

D1x, 600f4, 1.4x.

This was shot from my car at midday during heavy overcast conditions and light steady rain. Cropped about 25%, the eye was brightened slightly with the dodge tool PS7, and a small portion of an OOF duck was cloned from the lower edge. Comments and critiques appreciated.

A bit on the dark side - some flash would have helped here. Very nice wing flap pose. The correct name is Northern Pintail :)

EJ, I corrected the name; and, now that you mention it, see that the image would be better if the lighting were not so flat. Thanks for the comments.

Great timing to get the wing flat at its apex moment. A little fill flash would make this pop.

Very nice. :D

Jerry, Love a Duck in the rain. The wing spread is nice. If you add a smaill catchlight in the eye it would make a big difference and give it more life.

I like the wide spread of the wings. On my monitor the image looks like it could be further lightened in PS with a levels adjustment.

A touch of flash would have opened up the darks nicely.
Beautiful duck.

You did capture the moment....and in the rain as well. A little flash would have helped but then I think you've heard that enough.
