I stayed over an extra day on a business trip to LA to get my first ever morning at the La Jolla cliffs last Friday, to be greeted by gray skies until after 11am -- at least that gave me the option to shoot at any angle. Although there wasn't a lot of flight action, I was pleased when this popped up on C1 while editing. Canon 1Ds at ISO 200, 100-400 at 400, 1/1250 at f5.6 with whatever hi-speed sync could give me at -1.7, full frame.

Excellent Motif image. I love the wing position.

I like it, Matt!
Perhaps some curve/levels adjustments would bring back the color and contrast of this image ...

Agree with KK. I think you did well for the bad light situation.

I think the lack of contrast has more to do with it being presented on the web. When I view it in Photoshop, it looks much better. Well done.

Very nice. Even with the gloom you were able to get 1/1250 and freeze the primaries. At what ISO were you shooting?

Good shot of this bird landing. A bit more "pop" would really make this shine.
