I was working Washington D.C. last spring and caught up with Kim Kaiser to shoot a little bit at Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary. I knew of a silo with a large nest on top. This particular nest was very popular as we watched at least 5 intruders try to drive off the resident pair. Several bluffs were made and finally battle ensued between one of the resident nesters and a would be homesteader. It was a sight to behold as we watched the action from directly under the disputing raptors. The resident pair was triumpant in the end.

I caught this in the viewfinder during one of the scuffles. I am not concerned with critiques on the technicals, it's riddled with issues. But, I thought the action here was fun and wanted to share. Thanks for looking.

Wayne, this is killer. To make the image even more powerfull, I would crop in so you don't see the nest and silo.

I was thinking the same thing before I read Alan's comment. Great action! Thanks for sharing this one.

Only technical I'd play with is the crop -- otherwise a real killer.

Great, great action!! I kind of like this cropped with just the nest in the LLC. Still, very nice any way you crop it. :D

Just FYI. I did play with a couple of different crops, but I think the image tells the story better with the nest in view. IMHO, I didn't think it had as much impact with the silo and nest removed. But that's what makes photography so much fun is the different perspective that each individual brings to the table. Thanks for the comments.
