I have to thank Mike Wilson again for pointing out this bird. There were at least 6 at La Jolla as well as some ruddy turnstones. My overall impression is that they fed almost continuously and rarely paused for this type of image.

10D, 600IS, EV -2/3, no flash, full frame.

The bird looks level, but the beach looks like it's running downhill.

Jim, I can never get one to get its face out of the sand long enough for a shot like this. Very nice. As Alan pointed out, great detail.
