Hi,
Three-toed Woodpecker (Picoides tridactylus), European version. This was my first try with external flash, Canon 420EX. I know that 550EX + Better beamer are more popular in Northern America, but my intention is to use flash only occasionally for short distances. I think my 420EX will be very useful at Goa, India after few weeks! Three-toed Wp is having a major invasion mainly from Russia to here in Finland this winter. For many bird photographers this is the time to take species picture of this difficult to find Woodpecker. Photographed 17th January 2004 in Helsinki, Finland. Canon 10D + Canon EF 500/4 IS USM + Canon 420EX Iso Speed: 400 Manual mode Exposure: 1/125 Aperture: f4.5 Flash Compensation: -2.0 USM, levels, 20% cropped + little brush to cover extra catchlight http://www.jussivakkala.com/blog
