Hi all,

I was just informed of the new place and stopped by to register and post an initial image. It is nice to see so many faces that over the last few months have become familiar in my endeavour to improve my skills. I was at a place about an hour west of Minneapolis where a small pond has shrunk in size due to dry conditions and has exposed significant shoreline/sandbars. There were some 400+ yellowlegs/pectorals/leasts there this past weekend and these two just didn't get along. Unfortunately, the two shots I had of the action part of the fight weren't totally in focus (out of focus wing tips etc...very disappointing :x ), however this displays the start of the little skirmish. The one on the right just didn't appreciate the one on the left intruding on its feeding spot!

I hope you enjoy, and I am glad to be here :D

Hi, Chris! Welcome to NatureScapes.Net!

Love the inclusion of both the birds. It would have been cool to see the action shots you describe, but this is dynamic too.

Have a blast in Florida!

Showdown at the OK Coral. They look mean. I'll put my money on the one at our right. Very nice shot, Chris.

Hi Chris! This is a nice action shot and I too put my money on the left bird ;) Could the image be a little tilted?

Glad you found us and thanks for posting!

Nice shot of the "dispute". I found a lot of disputes while shooting shorebirds last weekend. You did a nice job with this one. Greg mentioned it but I noticed it as well.....perhaps a little tilt?

Hey Chris,

Nice shot. I think it could use a little sharpening and prehaps an adjustment on the tilt, but a sweet shot leaving us wanting to see what is going to happen with these two birds.

Hi Chris---I have seen this behavior many times in shallow water on the mudflats; you got a fine image here and are lucky to have seen that many birds at one time.

That's a handsome pair of birds, captured in the same plane and nice and sharp. Very Nice!

Love the implied action and the slightly opened beak. My money's also on the guy on the right. Looks the guy on the right is already taking a step back. The small yellow leg reflection does suggest that it's a bit tilted, but you've enough room to rotate and crop without a problem.

Very nice image! It looks a little light on my monitor, but that may just be my monitor. I like these birds a lot. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice shot of these two. You can see that they are about to come to blows. Well spotted and taken.

For all those that bet on the bird on our right in the picture..you are right. He won soundly :) As for the tilt...i swear...the earth tilts 1-2 degrees to my left. I know it does, really. Just ask Alex..he slides that way too ;)

I love the confrontational stance in both birds. My nits have been covered.

Very nice!
