This crow landed on the roof of a car two away from mine, as I was breaking down my rig in the parking lot at the Anhinga Trail.

This is close up! I love the green background, usually I can't get one of these birds to sit still long enough to compose something I like.

It helps with the critiques if you can provide a little info about your equipment/settings. For instance, the bird looks like it could use a touch more sharpening. If you used the 10D, which creates files that need a bit more sharpening than other DSLRs, that would help explain it. Or, depth of field might be a factor, what was the aperture?

Anyway, nicely composed, great background, just needs a bit more sharpening. An excellent first post, can't wait to see what you have for a second!

A.J., welcome to NatureScapes.Net! This is a very nice first post. Good exposure and sharpness on this guy. It could use a bit more DOF. I had a similar thing happen to me at AT; a crow landed on my open driver's side door as I loading up the trunk of the car. They must be looking for a handout!

Thanks for sharing and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.

A.J. welcome to NSN. Nice first post. The comp is good and the exposure is good too. a little more DOF would have everything sharp.

Hi AJ,

Fish Crow or American Crow? I never learned to tell them apart except by voice. Love the close up detail here. I'm guessing that flash was used based on the catch light. Looks like it was set a tad strong as the bill looks a little odd.

For framing purposes I would like a little more space all around except a little less neck on the bottom. Lovely BG and a treat to get so close.
