A small flock of these visited my feeder for a period of 3 weeks in December. Our whole family (6) enjoyed the birds so much, eating late breakfast on weekends with the finches entertaining us was wonderful. The feeder, which is only 8 ft from our window, was so busy I had to crop this shot about 30% resulting in this image. The BG is simply the OOF wood fence.

Thanks for looking and your comments.

What a massive bill this bird has! The better to crack the sunflower seeds with.

Nice clean BG, great color and I like the square crop for this one (you don' hear me say that every day!)

Wow! Nice headshot. I'd trade some space from the left for a bit more space on the right.

I agree with Alan, but I'd sure like to have one this nice.

Great job, Lat.

Nice close up Lat. I would like it without the seed.

Great closeup. For an active bird that is feeding, you did well to compose and get this one sharp.

Nice close up. I think there's enough space frame right as it stands.

Lat,

Nice portrait. This is technically well done with the fill flash.

You did an absolutely marvelous job with this one. I like it as is but I also think the other crop would be nice as well. I agree with Alan about the seed but that certainly doesn't diminish the great job you did with this one...and the excellent job of fill flash. I'm afraid that I would have probably fried the little guy.

Nice one, Lat. The gray fence makes the colours pop. Difficult to get the seed crushing beak stopped :o Not many house finches up here for a couple of years.
