Black-bellied Whistling Duck and Fulvous Whistling Duck hanging out together

Thanks to my friend Alex I was able to capture these playmates that would cruise the waters at the Ducksoup. I only wish both their heads were held identically.

10D, 100-400IS, cropped to a square format. ISO 200, f11, hand-held.

Comments and reposts welcome.

Jim,

This is very nice indeed. The heads being on the same plane would be nice, but I don't think it detracts from the image. Looks very well exposed and sharp to me. Nicely done!

Jim,

These guys look like good friends. This is well executed. F 11 worked well to get them both sharp. I love the color of the water.

Everything about this is nice. The water droplets really make this for me.

All the techs are on the money.

A job well done, Jim!
You almost got the dof covered on both birds. Stepping down one more stop and jack up the ISO may yield ...

This is neat. I think the slightly different angles of the heads works well for you here.

Alan,

Ducksoup is Alex's spoof on EJ's registering Ducksho_.

These ducks inhabit the old Miami zoo grounds at Crandon Park. They are wild but are fed so there is no reason to migrate.

This is what you call a three duck photo. You've got two ducks in the image and one lucky duck behind the camera. Great image Jim!

I think it time for me to stop posting tonight. The beak of the male looks split on top with a sort of orange reflection. Was this in the original or are my eyes playing tricks on me?
Other than that, I would say if I had my preferences in a perfect world, I would have preferred separation between the bill of the female and the neck of the male. But I've shot ducks before and they never seem to be in a perfect world for me either.
Still I like the shot after all that. :)
Tony
