Watched this juvenile feed for over an hour last Saturday at La Jolla. Waiting for that tail to quit bobbing and for it crawl on top of a pile of seaweed with a clean background was a challenge. The tide was coming in and a large set of waves washing up put my bird on a higher perch than usual giving me an opportunity. Cropped ~20% all around. Cloned out some bright spots and a few OOF strands of seaweed.

Well done, Mike. An excellent shot. I like the in-focus seaweed.

Cool bird and I like the seaweed stuff. Getting a little lower would have made it slightly more intimate while getting rid of the oof stuff on the lower area of the background. Still nice as is :)

Mike,

Very nice shot. The bird looks sharp and well exposed with just the right amount of flash. I really like the colors of the seaweed.

Sweet one! You have some nice light and make excellent use of flash. The colors and vegetation are all pluses here.

You had done well with this one, Mike!
Perhaps like to see a tiny bit more contrast ... (?)

Beautiful little bird on an unusual perch. A slight contrast adjustment would set this bird off a bit more.

This is a fine image. I believe a little bit of additional contrast and saturation would improve an already good image. Look for my private message with an example.
