(Bald Eagle) Homer, Alaska

This eagle was landing on a high tide mound and stretched out its wings just after landing. It's a bit tough shooting in this direction since lots of things can end up in the background (and foreground).

Tripod mounted Nikon D1H, 500mm AFS F4.0, TC-14EII, ISO 320, Aperture Priority, 1/350 @ F6.3. Width is about 50% of original. Converted from 3:2 to 5:4.

Bg and fg aside, this is my kind of shot. Love those wingstretches. Another nice one from your bottomless Homer files.

Tony, I've heard a rumor that you have only 5,164 eagles left to post. At least there's an end in sight  . Oops...I forgot...there's another trip to Homer next year.

Seriously, Tony, this is a beauty. Composition is excellent. I like the wingspread and the claw sticking up.

Tony, great shot! I would take a shot at cloning out the forground element.

There is a small BG and FG distraction for me, but a minor nit on a great wing strech. How amazing to have such great close ups of these majestic birds. :)

Agree with Alan about trying to clone out the OOF twig in the LRHC. Otherwise it's great.

It's good to be able to see the underwing like that. Colors and exposure right on! Would prefer more base under the bird but can see the limitations you describe.

A great angle and a different pose. I'd get rid of the oof in the lrc but very nice as it is.

Other than the lrc distraction, this is great. I don't think you need to go back to Homer next year, you can be posting BE until 2008 with what you took this year. Way to go Tony.

"I don't think you need to go back to Homer next year, you can be posting BE until 2008 with what you took this year. Way to go Tony." ROFL. I missed a bunch over the weekend, but had to check out your eagles! Keep 'em coming. (Sorry I'll miss you and Greg in Homer this year; I'll be up a little later with Chas.)
