Sweet shot. Nice to retain the whites all through the bird. Bare/dead branches are a bit unusual, but everything seems aimed at the egret. Might be level but pose of the bird suggests a slight clockwise rotation.

An appealing, moody shot, Michael. The modeling light is ideal. Like Rich, I believe you need CW rotation.

Very well lit egret I agree. A bit of a head turn toward you and a rotation and its a winner.

You did really well with the exposure, and the blue sky is nice. The suggested rotation works for me.

Love the ricness that slight underexposure brings. (At least, that's how it appears on my monitor.) Agree that a bit of rotation would set the bird better and might try some additional selective sharpening on the head or around the eye.

Mike,

Nice shot, I like the warm lighting. Where is Trouble Creek Road, Nature Coast?

Trouble Creek Road intersects Route 19 at the southern end of New Port Richey. You would proceed west on Trouble Creek Road and hopefully see some bird activity. The main problem here is limited places to park. Have seen spoonbills, storks, egrets, osprey, and eagles herThe central west coast of Florida is known as the nature coast.

Thanks to all for you kind comments and suggestions.

My first reaction was that the bird is too much in the middle. A little further left would have been where I would have tried to put it. In reading some of the other comments, I'd have to agree with the rotation one.
So after a wee bit of rotation and some cropping, you're going to have one fine image of an Egret left. :D
