Jimmy,

This is great. What makes this photo for me is the feet just leaving the water. The position of the wings are awesome. I do wsih there was a little more room behind the bird and I think a little off the bottom makes it stronger.

Concur with Alan all around. The "push off" of from the water really makes this shot for me.

Others have mentioned a lot about the bird itself, which I like, but I also like that the implied motion is across the frame in a band of in focus with two bands of out of focus complementary colors highlighting it above and below.

I like everything about this, especially the smooth color tones from bottom to top and the fact of the field mark on the head showing so well.

Jimmy - this is a really sweet image - one of the best I have seen in a long time. The angle of view and the excellent use of DOF makes this stand apart from the others.
Did I mention I really, really like this?

I have to agree with Alan. A little less bottom and slightly left in the frame. And it might be slightly tilted to the right.
And, yes, some of us have learned to expect perfection from you. If it was any one else's image, I would have said it was great!
Nicely done. :D
