Continue with more egret shot ... The image is 50% cropped to show just the head and its catch in details.

Nice one KK,

The expression on the face of that fish says it all. :)

Nice capture, both for you and the egret - not for the fish. Wonderful detail. Might have cropped just a bit more from the right.

KK,
I'd say this fish is in deep trouble. Nice catch.

I like that you can see an eye from both bird and fish. Again, I really like that gray toned background.

KK---In the other egret post, I read with interest the exchange between you and E.J. on determining exposure with the 10 D. I am curious about how you determined exposure on this one, too.

I like the action but even allowing for the crop, the image appears slightly underexposed and soft. I also am faced with the same decisions you described in your last post and would like to gain more insight. Thanks.

Juli, Thanks for your interest on the issue. I'm still learning the exposure characteristic of 10D myself! What I described in my previous post was " I apply exposure compensation for between - 2/3 and -1 1/3 when shooting anything total white, such as the Great Egret, with my 10D! ". I find this setting gives me best result in a bright sunny day. For overcast/cloudy situation, a slightly less compensation will work better viz @ -2/3, for example. This of course is for shooting pure white birds only ...
