Yes, he was out in the open for way over 1 hour each day I shot there. I have images of just him, but this is the best one with a good reflection in water without duckweed. Cropped 20% from the top. Also note just below the leaf is his tail. There are white feathers at the very tip but also an area of reddish feathers. He would poke at the waters edge repeatedly and then take a rest s he's doing here.

10D, 600IS, 1.4x, ISO 200, EV -1.

Comments and reposts welcome.

Jim, this is so sweet in every way. I would clone out the brown leaf in a second.

WOW.... I agree with Alan with the leaf, but I couldn't get my eyes off of the snipe so it isn't a biggy....

Bravo, Jim!!!! Fabulous image for certain!!! I can see its tail perfectly and am not bothered by the leaf. The itty bitty item I'd clone (if I knew how) would be in the reflection ... green on forehead. All else is perfection!!! 8) :D 8)

Lovely shot Jim.

Can't wait to see Wako myself. Hopefully for me the $ stays that low compared to the Euro for the next couple of months ;)

Cheers

Beautifully shot!!! The leaf does intrude a bit. Love the reflection.

These guys can be so tough to get out in the open. This one is excellent....and the reflection is certainly an added bonus. Absolutely perfect exposure and detail.

Great shot. I've seen these guys, but only when I accidently manage to flush them. They are really secretive.

Excellent shot of a hard to get subject! The leaf doesn't seriously bother me; I'd leave things as they are. That said, it wouldn't be difficult to clone out. :)

cheers, Oliver

This would be a really nice shot even without the reflection. The reflection makes it an amazing shot
