Bald Eagle in flight

10D, 500 IS w/1.4, ISO 200, 1/1000, f/8
This guy was fighting the strong wind and -20 F wind chill. It's amazing how effortlessly they can do that.

There's more shadow detail to recover, but I kind of liked the dramatic shadow of his head on the wing as it is here. What do you think?

I think it works. You have nice detail in the visible bits of the wings and body and I really like the head position...

Nice detail. I'd like to see a comparison with one that brings out the shadow detail. I'd probably like that one better. Still a great shot. :D

Beautiful image, though with some sharpening artifacts, especially about the wingtips. No need to lighten the shadows.
