Golden Weaver

On my last safari in Botswana, this Golden Weaver was building a nest near our campsite. This picture was taken while he was taking a break from his engineering to grab a snack....

Nikon D100, 80-400VR @ 400mm, 1/640@F5.6 handheld, ISO 400

Jeff, This little fellow really pops from the somewhat busy BG. It's fascinating that not one leaf obstructs any of his glorious feathers!!! 8) :D

I like that I can handhold effectively 600mm. I don't like how slow the autofocus is...If it "hunts" it seems to take forever. My Sigma 300-800 will focus tons faster than the 80-400....
