It has really been slow around here. Seems that I had other obligations on the few days when the weather was good. This is one of the resident geese at a local lake who can be quite tempermental. I set up along the bank to shoot some other ducks when these guys came in. Fortunately they went back out in the water as they can be quite nasty if you don't have anything for them. They have come up and nipped at me in the past.

Canon 1D, 500mmL IS, 2X TC, tripod
ISO 320, ss 1/640, f/11, EV -2/3 (had been shooting white ducks)
Photoshop - cropped, USM, levels

Nice portrait, Lana.

The light, BG, focus, composition are all right on the mark.

Lana,

Very good portrait. They certainly are known to be aggressive.

A superb close up, Lana!
With vivid color, details and sharpness even with a 2x ... I found geese quite aggressive at times too.

And rightly so...it is a handsome looking creature. I love the texture shown in the neck area.

:) Great neck feathers, just like the regular white farm geese, who are just as tempermental. Very good portrait.

Very nice portrait! These feral geese are actually pretty attractive.

EJ....I depend on you to keep me straight. I have now changed "greglag" to "greylag". If Greg mutates into a bird, I imagine it will be something like an Eagle.....at least I would expect a little more than a "barnyard goose".

Excellent shot of this goose. The greylags aren't as aggressive as the white domestic geese are around here. :)
