I have been so busy with travel and business (taking bird pix!) and plans for future travel that I have not been around here much (to say the least). I want to wish each of you and your families the very best in 2004: good health, tons of happiness, productivity, satisfaction, safe travels, and a year filled with wonderful birds and even better images to share here on NSN.

This Crested Caracara was photographed from a blind on the Ramirez Ranch in Roma, TX. If any of you would like to learn more about this or several other really productive private ranches in the Rio Grande Valley (Hi Juan!), shoot me an e-mail.

Canon 500mm f/4 L IS lens with EOS 1Ds and 2X II TC. ISO 250. Evaluative metering -1/3 stop: 1/800 sec. at f/11.

I am sending each and every one of you enough love, strength, and energy to get through '04 with a big smile on your face.

Best, and great picture-making,

Artie

Happy New Year to you too Artie! Very sweet shot! I know that perch...I'll be hacking the extra part off when I arrive at the ranch in April....;)

I hear these guys are getting quite tame now. Last year we had to fool them by getting Roel to drop us off at the blind and drive the car away.
