I now know why people rave about the 100-400 at Bosque, especially around the crane pools. It arrived 2 days before I left for N.M. I was really happy with the focusing speed and it is surprisingly sharp.

Could use some noise reduction but wasn't sure how to go about it.

The flash really sets the main bird apart from the flock. He looks like a drill sergeant and his less than eager charges, being roused for the day.
I don't see any noise problems but if you have them it's hard to beat Neatimage.

Neat one, I love the guy out front with the sleeping flock in the rear. Good job.

This is excellent! The active bird in stark contrast with the lazy ones makes this very unique and interesting. The flash has effectively brightened the FG bird to make it stand out from the crowd. Well done!

Great motif shot!! I love how the main subject stands out from the bg birds. The open bill is a nice touch. :)

Very effective use of flash to single out the bird. Well done.

I really like the "spotlight" effect on the bird of action. A natural alarm clock. I have really liked my 100-400mmL IS lens as it is useful in so many situations and has given me sharp images.

I would have probably not noticed the noise if you hadn't mentioned it. I've heard good things about Neat Image and just recently Ninja Noise (I think that's its name.) I have no experience with either as they are not in a Mac version. You might give them a try.

Very nicely done! I especially like the contrast between the alert bird and all the sleepers.

8) Cute image. I like the walk and the open beak.
