I was down in south Florida the past 2 1/2 days shooting at both Wako and Okeeheelee, but the highlight was meeting Jill and Alex on Saturday and shooting in the ducksoup ponds. I have yet to go through those images.

This one was taken at Wako on Friday. Distracting elements cloned out from UR corner. This probably should be cropped from the right. I wish I could of shot at a lower angle but the boardwalk is quite elevated.

10D, 600IS, EV-1, fill at -2/3, no crop

Comments and reposts welcome.

Cool bird, Jim! A really nice image of a rare bird, the angle isn't a very big deal here at all. Did it cooperate with you for a little while?

Excellent capture! Maybe a sliver off the right but for me it works as is - I'd guess that if you had been able to get lower, you would have wound up with a lot of OOF reed stems in your BG. So far, I don't have any pics of this species myself - they are incredibly stealthy birds. Nice work!

cheers, Oliver

Jim, The angle looks fine to me. The detail is great and the green stuff in the water adds a lot. The bird looks too blue to me. I'm not sure how you processed this, but it looks like it could be warmer.

Jim,

Nice shot. I've tried for the past couple years to get a good shot of a Sora without success. Maybe this year?

Heather, He or she was out in the open at the edge of the reeds for at least 20 minutes. Totally cooperative for this species

Alan, I used ISO 200, used the black and white sliders with the ALT key, then increased the saturation +18. Other than cloning in the UR corner, I did nothing more.

Wonderful! Rare to get this bird in the open like this. While not "perfect" it is prefect for me!

Cool bird. The angle is cool with me. I see the world from a 6'3" point of view, that how most of my shots look also.

Jim,

Outstanding shot. You did well to get this guy out in the open. I like what the habitat adds to the image. The fanned primary feathers are a nice bonus.

Any shot of a sora is good, and this one is very good. I'd like it better without the brown stalks, but since I have nothing at all on this species, I'd be happy to have one like this in my files.

What a great bird! I'd love a bit of a head turn but I personally would be thrilled to pieces with a shot like this.

Nice image of a rare one -- I think the angle works in that you are getting a nice contrast of colors.

Fabulous image, Jim!!! Being able to see its underbelly tells me the angle is not a problem. Seeing him in the open amid the duckweed is great!!! Wonderful seeing you, my friend, and hope you visit again soon!! :D :D

This is a great shot of a bird I never seem to see. There certainly doesn't seem to be any problem with the angle on this one. Very nice detail and excellent that you have him so exposed. Glad to hear you had a great time this weekend....I knew you would. Your tour guides are top of the line.

Really nice image for a Sora. As far as the angle; this is lower than any shot I would have been able to get to date. If you don't want it, I'll take it. :D

Beautiful Sora image. One of the best I've seen. I like the wing feathers out and relaxed like they are.

Not seen one of these before. Excellent detail and the angle doesn't bother me :)
