Canon 10D 600IS f4 lens plus 1.4 TC 1/1100 at f7.1 Manual Incident metering ISO 200 Papago Park, Phoenix, Arizona.

Thanks to EJ who gave the information to find this male hooded merganser. I participated on the Duckshop 2003 and everybody was giving me hard time because I carried too much equipment. Guess what! The monster 600 was very handy the next day to approach this extremely skittish male, the only one on the entire lagoon. Thanks again EJ. All comments are welcome.

Love the shot, Juan. It appears to be rotated about 7* to the left (CCW). Great job on the exposure.

You did a great job of this guy. What a beauty. I, too think it needs a little rotation.

Gorgeous (though tilted) image--the reddish brown reflections in the water perfectly complement the bird.

Great shot, I love these birds. I am confused as it seems half of the reflection is reversed. Am I going nuts??

Gorgeous capture, I love the light and shadows in this. The colors in the water are super. It pays to be prepared. :)

An absolutly beautiful duck. I quite like the two toned water but would love to see the tilt corrected.

This is a difficult bird to approach, and to expose properly but you have done both here. I shot a lot of them last winter and what always takes me by surprise is how the brown flanks can soak up light. They are almost as hard to hold as the blacks.
