Sue, I am no bird ID expert but I think you have a Great Egret here.

Still haven't gotten to Bombay Hook. :? I like the gray tones in your background here.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

The 'pasta' is what is left of an eel. It was a bit of a battle there for awhile with the eel, but the egret won out.

Heather, it was a gray day at Bombay Hook, and that is why the image came out like that.

E.J., thanks for the confirmation on the I.D.

I did forget to mention that I am working on not frying my whites and I am practicing on the egrets.

I'd bet on the Egret over the Eel anytime. Without me downloading it and checking, the whites might be a little hot. (Or it could be my eyes again. :D )

Hi Sue, Good catch to get this one with his snack!

Like you, I am working on my whites - not as easy as the experts make it look is it. :?

Best wishes

Sue,

A bird with prey in its mouth always makes a good shot. I love the S curve of the neck.

Sue, nice shot. Would have liked to see the feet as its the key to the ID.

Sue,

The gray makes a nice background for the white Great Egret. Attractive image!

I think the whites are a bit over around the top. Any suggestions? At least I am getting there - before the whole bird would have been one big bright white spot
