This is no great photographic work, but can someone please ID this bird for me? Shot early August at Reifel Island near Vancouver. It and a friend were flitting around some bushes at the edge of the marsh.

(I have a guess from looking at books, but I could be way off base. If my guess is right, it would have been obvious in full flight, but I never saw that.)

Thanks

-Paul

Paul,

My guess would be a juvenile bank or barn swallow.

Looks like a barn swallow but I don't have a reference nearby.

Thanks--barn swallow was my guess, but I never did see the tail in flight.

It's a juvi Barn Swallow, you can even see the gape, nice shot of a hyper-active bird.

Some of us would like the know the equipment used even if you're only looking for in ID. You can learn from any image you know. :)

Paul, since everyone else has named the bird, I'll take a shot at the photo.

I'm not crazy about the vertical lines in the background. There seems to be some noise or grain going on. Would like to see what iso you were using? It could also use a little USM. The side lighting is a little strong, which flash could have helped.
I do like the uncluttered image. The comp is great and the subject is a cute one.
