Photo taken at the La Jolla tide pools just south of the lifeguard station. Had a tough time with the ID of this bird because of the molt. Thanks to Mike Wilson for the ID confirmation (Mike, I only had to go down on my knees for this one :D )

Very nice shot and I love the raised leg. I don't know if it was possible but getting even lower would put the bird against a blue background with the mud at the very bottom.

Excellent shot. I like everything here, but a lower shooting angle would have put this one over the top.

Really reallt nice. Perfectly exposed with great light and action. What I like most is the way the tail feathers are splayed out (and obviously the action).
