Tricolored Heron (Egretta tricolor)
Alligator Farm, St. Augustine, FL, on 30 May 2002

The two big Trike kids are belting it out and the squirt is singing harmony. So what’s the goofball on the left doing? Humming.

Not my usual style, the frame is square, more room is needed at the bottom, and the BG is distracting. I thought, however, that you might enjoy this glimpse of the hilarious 15 minutes I spent with these fools.

Thanks for looking. Comments, critiques, and reposts are welcome.

Sandy,

A variation on the old barber shop quartet. At least their heads are all turned in the correct direction.

A quartet for sure! Sandy, you nailed the caption on this one - I don't see birds anymore, I see singers. It's priceless. :D

Alex, you're posting from Alaska? You're mad, my friend, truly insane. When did you escape from the institution?

A classic AF shot! I like it. A little bit of a blue cast in the shaded parts, especially the wing undersides.

Sandy, this is marvelous. The background even looks as if it were placed there for them. Just a wonderful humorous shot.

ROFL! This is not at all what I had expected from you Sandy! Not disappointed, but quite surprised. I suspect that you were having as much fun as they were. Love that you've got all eyes forward and love the single askew wing on the little guy. Can these guys open their mouths without flapping their wings? :)

Sandy, this is oh so difficult to pull off successfully, but you have done it.
Way to go my friend, your patience and perseverance paid off.

Hmmmm, the birds appear somewhat bluish, while the background appears neutral. Typically, when using flash the subject is rendered correctly with the background appearing slightly askew.

I love it!

Best,

Chas
