Mallard, Anas anas, male, Nieuwegein, The Netherlands, Eos 3 + 1.4x + 400/5.6L + ..mm ext rings, Sensia 100, full frame, usm
Took this shot a year or two ago. I remembered it when I saw the close ups of other birds today. I thought, did I ever get close to a bird and yes, but perhaps not as exiting. This head of this mallard is filling the frame, which is not quite my taste, but vital for the extreme small details. I know I did some usm on it, but this was long ago, probably could do it a bit better now. I now know also that when you use rings one should not be affraid to stop down a bit for extra DOF. I wished the bill was IF... At least the eye and some of the facial parts are tack sharp. Hope you enjoy this. Feel free to add any comment, good AND bad.
