Thought I would post this as I am preparing to head back to Bunya Mountains to photograph these and some of the other locals.

This juvenile male is practising his mating skills while the bowers real owner is away.

Some of you may have seen this image before. I borrowed a friends Nikon FE2 as it was easier than replacing his lighting setup with my own. From memory we had 4 flashes in use. Two at the front, one on the bower and one at the back.
Comments and reposts welcome

Nice one, Wayne. Perhaps a bit overflashed.

Very unusual behavior. Don't think I'll ever be able to think about recycling quite the same way - all those bottle top pieces! Like the bird too - but now his eye reminds me of a bottle top.

This is a gorgeous bird! The colors, especially in the eye, are amazing. Hope you get lots more photos of these birds to share... :D

Nice behavioral shot. You're giving us a nice look at the birds down up there.

I would love to have a chance to watch these Bower birds construct one of these incredible bowers. I like the flashy choice of colorful decorations.

Truly an interesting shot of both a bird and behavior that I've not seen. Hope you get a lot more shots.

Wayne,

I like the detail and the blue "nesting material" matching the bird's beautiful eye. Nicely done!
