Until last year when Sandy Mossberg posted one from St. Augustine I never realized these ducks wintered in Florida. Driving to AAA in Heathrow, Fl last week I was amazed to find them in central Florida. They are in many retention ponds next to large corporate headquarters but there is no parking closeby and they are quite wary of an approach. I found a pull off this AM where I could shoot from the car and captured this. The next goal is to get her mate.

10D, 600IS, 1.4 ISO200, EV -1 2/3, no flash, crop about 10 % from right.

Comments and reposts welcome.

Beautiful shot!!

I don't know if it is my eyes or what but the reflection looks smoother than the water. :?

Jim,

This is great. In addition to the duck, the water and the reflection make this a beautiful photograph.

The beautiful green water, alert pose, reflection, and ripples make this such a great image. I love everything about this.
