Hey Alex,

Very cool bird, photographed very well. I might tone down some of the branches I behind him on the LHS but it looks good as is too. I love this kind of lighting, and your wait was well worth it.

I'm curious why you use the 70-200mm with a 2x when you have a 400mm f2.8. Is it just a weight thing?

All the best and happy new year.

Cheers

Carl

Carl, bringing the 400mm-f2.8 to Metro-Zoo is like taking an Elephant Gun to hunt Rabbits, every bird and creature is pretty darn close, most of the time the 2X teleconverter is off the lens for all practical purposes!!!, Plus the fact that between 11.5 lbs for the 400mm and maybe 2+ lbs for the 70-200mm is a pretty good argument to leave it behind!!

You don't want to let the little bunnies run away, now do you???

You did a good job with the 70-200 and the 2x. It wasn't that you were lacking for light or trying to get a shallower DOF. Wonderful image! Thanks for posting it. :D
