Female Downy Woodpecker Building Nest Winter Park, Florida

D1x, 600f4, 1.4x, BB, Full Frame

This Downy spent many hours building this nest. I have seen her inside on numerous occasions but have not yet spotted her partner. Comments welcome.

Jerry, Excellent shot with great flash balance. Love the bark texture and the green BG. I know its upright, but it makes me want to tilt my head to look at it :)

Monique, I am packed and ready to go, I may not look like much but I am well behaved and can grow on you like a fungus, with no cure for it!!!

Silky is the word -- love the detail and I did have to turn my head.

I think this photo is very nice. I have to admit that I'm also titling my head sideways to view it. :)
