One of our local Eagle nests now has chick(s) so I was camped out there yesterday morning trying for some flight shots. I had some luck but the light was getting harsh so I had decided to leave. As I was walking out of the woods I caught an Osprey flying over with a fish in tow (really a big mistake for the Osprey) I quickly looked back to see what the Eagles were doing, they had both taken flight and were chasing the Osprey. I went back to my observation spot to wait knowing I would at least get one of the parents coming back and landing at the nest. Within two minutes I heard the eagles coming and one now had the fish. This was the only shot as he shot right past the nest and over the tree line, I assume to find quite tree to enjoy his meal.

You just witnessed a prime example of kleptoparasitic behavior!!!
In the animal world the bigger you are the less effort is needed to feed oneself!!!, The Eagle looks as if she has her afterburners on!!!
Very nice!!! Congrats!!! 8)

Bill,

I am not as eloquent as Alex, but I agree with everything he just said. Very nice shot.

It's amazing how fast a bird this big can move when it wants to. 8) You did well on your one opportunity. :)

Nice capture especially since the pressure was on to make the most of the opportunity! Congratulations.

(Kleptoparasitic behavior indeed! That's why I love this site, learn something new each time I visit.)

Sweet shot!! I love that the wings are up giving a good view of the fish.

Very nice. I like the size of the bird in the frame in this one.
