Snail Kite (Rostrhamus sociabilis)

Great snail hunters and always on the wing, they only perch to eat their meals, when the wind is coming from the right direction you could hear the "pop"of the snail vacuum seal being broken!!

Awesome capture Alex! It's not easy to get this close to a Snail Kite. I know because I try frequently. I think this one is a female though.

Alex,

Very nice shot. I like the pose as well as the light on the bird and the smooth background. Excellent work.

Another great flight shot of a species I've never had the pleasure to see, thanks again.

Alex,

Killer shot. Great job catching her turned so we get a look at the meal.

Now that's what I call up close and personal with a Snail Kite....and her lunch. Not only is the bird sharp and detailed but also the snail. An excellent shot of the underside. You sure nailed this one.
