Mallard Drake Central Texas

There were several mallards in my son's tank in Central Texas and I spent a bit of Christmas morning with them.

These guys were quite cooperative. Some of the time they were much too close for the 500mm lens.

10D, 500/4 L IS, 550EX + BB @ -1 2/3, ISO 400 -1/3
BB Normal + Linear conversion, combined in PS to tame whites a little.

You did well to get the green and some hints of blue in the head feathers.
Very nice shot. :)

Good image. The word "tank" in this context may confuse folks outside Texas.

Thanks for the reminder, Cliff.

Thanks to all for the nice comments.

Tank, in this case, is a pond about 1 1/2 acres in size. It has fish in it, if the GBH hasn't cleaned it out and the mallards call it home.

Excellent portrait....love the colors. Funny, I'm not from Texas but I didn't have any trouble figuring out what a "tank" was.
