Hey, Jim. Herein lies the "Catch 22" of camoflage photos. If it is a really good camo shot the subjects are indistinguishable from the background and it is impossible to pick it/them out. You have come as close to this situation as I can imagine ever getting.

4 is the right number (Unless someone can find one that I didn't see :D ) I was walking throught the woods looking for a Broadwing hawk nest when I came across these woodcock. I didn't have my camera so I hiked back to my car and got it and returned to find them exactly in the same place as where I had left them! I had to be very careful not step on one!

The fifth one I see has a light coloured stick right over its head. It is burried deeper in the leaves than the others. The stick starts beneath the brighter brown oak leaf at the top and angles to the left ending one inch from the bottom about 1/3rd in from the left side. I seem to find it every time but maybe it isn't a chick at all :?: :?: :?:

You did a good job of this and it has been fun!!!!

I get 4.5 (Maybe!) What a great demonstration of how nature protects the young.

What did I win? :D Actually that was almost a guess on both the numbers and the species. What a fun challenge.
