Photo taken at Santee Lakes (San Diego) a couple of weeks ago. Woodpecker photo ops seem to be rare here in San Diego. Oh, They're here, but there's almost never a clear shot unless you get luck. This day I got lucky :D

Neil,

Nice, clean potrait with sufficient habitat (perch) included. As common as they are, photographing them usually isn't easy.

A very nice, clean shot of this guy. No nits at all from me. :D

Excellent Neil. I usually find Nuttall's Woodpeckers there, nice to see a Downy. Light and perch are great.

He's adorable! Those feet look way too big for that small bird. :) The soft blue sky is really nice here and I love the diagonal of the perch as well as the pretty light.

Sweet photo, Neil.
Perfect light and detail in the bird. The sky BG offsets the woodpeckers plumage nicely.

Well done.
