I realize this is not up to the standards of this forum, but it fits the motif better than most that I have viewed. I am a birder/wanna-be photographer. I already bowl, fish, skii etc. so those are not alternative options. I also have something that most of you do not have. Room for improvement. This is my first post, so be gentle.

It does fit the motif really well - if it wasn't for the eyes, I'd have trouble finding him.

I like the picture for the theme, however, it you change the contrast a little and use a little USM, the picture really pops out. (I hope you do not mind a repost.)

Certainly is a nice example of camo. Should be, too, as owls have to do that professionally.

The above repost is also nice, althought it may not befit the theme as well.

I forgot a couple of things. Image was taken in Provo, Utah on Jan. 12, 2003. This is the image uncropped. I couldn't decide which to use and probably chose the wrong one. Jack

Jack,

This certainly fits the motif. Thanks for posting the whole image. I like your crop. He's in such dense branches that it does not look like you could have taken a cleaner image of him.

Hi Jack. Welcome to NSN! :)

Provo, UT is quite pretty. I just drove through there a few months ago.

I like this shot quite a bit. I even like the uncropped version! It demonstrates how we usually see this species very well. A perfect motif contribution!

What a camouflage this owl was able to make. I'd go for your uncropped version to see the BIG picture so to speak. A nice shot, Jack!

Jack -

Excellent example of camouflage. The plumage on this guy could not match the bark any better.

Welcome and don't worry about what you think the standards are. Some of us have too much time on our hands. :D I really like the shot but I might have cropped it like this for presentation.
