Long-eared Owl David Cahlander

Negative film, Sigma 500 mm lens.

Taken several years ago at Acacia Cemetary, Minneapolis, MN. This bird landed on the same tree every day for several months. Even though it looks relatively easy to see, you needed to tell someone which branch it was on and give directions to the part of the branch before it was seen.

Nice motif shot, owls amaze me in how well they can blend in with their surroundings.

This one looks like it would really be hard to spot. Excellent Motif shot!!

I only wish the eyes stood out a little more. Nice shot and great spotting.

Actually with Owls, I move my head back and forth and look for a lump that does not show light through as the aspect changes. The color is almost the last thing that you see, depending on the light.
