Willet Fort Desoto

D1x, 600f4, iso 125, 1/640, f7.6, USM, cropped

I am trying to get more interesting portraits of these birds. I like the colors and textures of the water compared to the typical images I have of Willets standing on the sandy beach. Comments and Critiques welcome.

I agree with you Jerry, the water makes this shot. The bird looks great too. Well done.

It's definitely about the water and the soft light. A bit more sharpening would make the bird pop off the screen a little more

Very nicely done. I'd just add a touch more room in front of the bird.

Nicely done with the water -- the Willet is cool too. I agree a touch of USM on the Willet would add to it.

A very nice departure from the willet shots with sandy bg. The color of the water is a very nice contrast to the willet's colors.

Yep, very nice. I agree with EJ that it would benefit from sharpening.

I love the wavy water in this one. I'd love see this with a little more USM as well. These are such pretty birds in a sort of understated way.

Thanks for the comments everyone. You are right, more sharpening substantially enhanced the image.
