I thought this was a Mexican Mallard.
I guess my punishment will be for a Northern Pintail to decorate my windshield!

Wonderful colors and detail. Any chance that you could have gotten lower or were you shooting from your car?

Chupadera deck. The mallards were pretty skittish. The kildeer would have tolerated a closer approach but every attempt with the mallards didn't work out.

I like the detail in the feathers on this bird. The background is a little busy, but you do the best with what you have. This bird appears to be a female Northern Pintail (Anas acuta). Well done.

Detail looks great, Dick. The soft looking light is appealing, too.

Nice shot but this is a Northern Pintail female. A Mexican Mallard female is nearly indistinguishable from a Northern Mallard female and the bill is much bulkier and not all black like this. Plus the plumage and tail is very different from this bird.

Whatever she is, she's sweet - and this is a lovely image.

I am willing to bet that you just asked her for a blind date!!!
Otherwise no wild duck would come this close to you!!
Wonderful capture and very nice pose!! 8)
Slightly underexposed by maybe a 1/3, and a slight cyan cast is present, minor in all respects, Under overcast conditions the colors should be a lot warmer since it is natures rule, Here I have taken the liberty of adjusting a little the colors to show the difference !!, I hope you don't mind, If you do mind let me know and I will delete the same!!!
Great capture indeed!! :)

Northern Pintail Femail -- ohh how I tried to get a clean shot of one of these, maybe next time. Love the image, just wish it were mine.
