Taken in the Pantanal in Brazil at Pousada Piuval. These are the most common swallows in the Pantanal and are quite bold. This guy didnt budge as I approached allowing for very tight shots such as this. I know the perch isn't ideal, but this is where they always sat, so thus this is where I shot the photo.

Canon Eos10D + Canon 400mm f/5.6. 1/200th sec, f/7.1. Fill at -1 2/3.

Enjoy,

Yup, the perch isn't the best and I too would be tempted clone out a catchlight. The pose and lighting though are awesome.

Well done in pretty much all respects. I'd just clone out one of the catchlights.

This is beautiful....wonderful colors, detail and BG. Yeah....I know, the perch isn't the best....but that's where they like. I would clone out the other catchlight.

Nicely done shot of the martin. Too bad about the perch but sometimes we just have to take what we are given.
