Snail Kite (Rostrhamus sociabilis)

If you are not there for breakfast time they won't be close by lunch time, so get there early !!, Still a few weeks away from nesting they have started the courting ritual, once they have chicks the snail hunting does start in earnest, with improved chances for flight shots!!!
D1x, Raw file, Lens=400mm afs-f/2.8 + 2X, FL=800mm, Manual metering, 1/1000sec SS-f/8, ISO=400, No flash attached!!!
Any comments and or reposts are always welcome!!

Alex,

This is so nice, I hate to think what you will do when the chances for a good shot get better.

This is simply beautiful. I remember seeing these guys at Shark Valley, but they were way up high. A great flight shot!

Alex,

Great shot. I like the eye level perspective and the view of the top of the wings.

Holy Excrement is this ever good. To say that you "nailed this one" is an understatement. You couldn't have had a more perfect shot. And the eye.....this magic eye is certainly on you!!! Excellent!!
