It's cold, cloudy and snowy in the north east so subjects are limited. This mallad was sitting on a snow bank on a small stream. I was able to get a shot of him watching me. He seemed to be wondering what I was doing. D-60, 100-400 @ 400mm, 1/80 sec., f/5.6. ISO 200

I'm having a hard time with the "simple" description. Beautifully exposed and sharp as a tack. Nicely done.

Great sharpness and detail. The green iridescence is captured very well. A slight crop off the right-hand side strengthens the composition for me.

Simple is good...this is a wonderful mallard portrait - not an easy thing to do well, as I can attest. :)

I did a double take on the back! I like this. I have never seen so much green on a mallard head before!

Simple.....but eloquent. I love it when you get them in the perfect light.
